Yoga is all about connection and listening, two vital skills that from the very beginning give the family a healthy foundation. We offer classes and workshops to support you through all the stages of the journey of family life. This may be as an individual taking space to meet your needs or by coming together as a family and deepening your connection with each other.
Planning for your Pregnancy
If you are planning for pregnancy then our yoga classes and mindful yoga classes and workshops in conjunction with good nutrition are an excellent way to prepare your body and mind.
Once pregnant, our pregnancy and pre-natal yoga classes create a space where new parents can take the time to integrate physical and psychological change. These classes will also help to prepare you for birth and parenthood and connect to a wider community of parents. We have a range of services and resources as well as yoga to support you.
Mindful Birthing
We also recommend our mindful birthing workshop. Research has shown minfulness training helps to balance mood for up to three months after the birth. Mindfulness will help you in coping with pain in labour, bonding with your baby as well as ongoing attachment and stress reduction. This is the biggest gift you could give yourself and your new family.
Infant massage is a three week training that supports parents to have confidence in their intuition and nurturing skills, holding and touching their new baby while learning all the massage strokes and being introduced to baby yoga.
In the weeks that follow; our parent and baby yoga classes will give you connection to a parenting community and all the resources you need to support you in breastfeeding and early parenting. Yoga helps you to care for your back and hips, parents dance together, sing, massage and have lots of fun. With parent and toddler yoga the fun continues, children naturally do yoga and we build on this as toddlers join in with parents. We include resources and support on parenting toddlers.
Your children can continue to come to our centre as they enter their school years and join our Leaping Frog Yoga for Kids and Teens. Here yoga postures and mindfulness games are playfully combined to give children a love of exercise and strong foundations in healthy posture and alignment. Through exercise and play we introduce life-skills that help to develop body-mind integration, relaxation, learning, communication and empathy as well as overall health and well being.
